KTM will host an international final race made up from the best five riders from its RC CUP youth series from around the world this October at the legendary Silverstone Grand Prix circuit to see who is the best of the best.
Since its inception, the KTM RC 390 has not only proven itself on the road as a versatile and capable machine, its Supersport track potential has also been exploited by utilizing KTM’s wide range of performance PowerParts and fully adjustable WP Suspension to create an affordable ‘CUP’ specification for racing.
KTM RC CUP race grids composed of identical versions of these machines have been battling it out on race circuits in Germany, The Netherlands, Mexico, North America, United Kingdom and will soon be added by South Korea and Finland. As well as a level playing field with a competitive and adjustable bike, these youth race series provide top-level coaching and rewards packages within existing high profile national championships to nurture future stars and help bring their racing careers to the next level.
But as the READY TO RACE company, KTM is offering the top five riders (from the standings on September 30, 2015, with a maximum age of 22) from existing official RC CUP series the chance to take part in a World Final. Held within the penultimate round of the MCE British Superbike Championship at Silverstone on October 2-4, 2015.
The winner will receive a standard KTM RC 390 to keep and a one-on-one coaching by Red Bull KTM Ajo riders Miguel Oliveira and Brad Binder for one day. The second place finished will be loaned an RC CUP machine to race for the next season along with a one-day coaching from a factory KTM Moto3 rider. The following placed riders will receive generous vouchers from series partners such as Akrapovič, Metzeler and Motorex.
Briefed over the entire weekend by former MotoGP rider and now KTM test rider, Alex Hofman, the World Final participants will share the grid with the existing competitors of the Santander Consumer Finance KTM British Junior Cup, but will be scored separately from the final round of the British Championship. All the machines need to be CUP specification bikes built by the KTM factory and running to the series rules, with the Metzeler M7RR being the control tire. World Final riders from outside of the UK series will be able to display their existing sponsors on the bikes.
On Friday 2nd October, two Free Practice sessions will allow the riders to acclimatise to the Worlds longest and fastest motorcycle GP circuit currently in use, ahead of the Saturday morning Qualifying practice session to decide the grid positions for Race 1.
The World Final will be held over two races, each of 45km distance on Saturday and Sunday.
